Wylie Fred Truitt, 75, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Phoebe North Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell and Rev. Tom Pollock will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Tignall, GA, Mr. Truitt had resided in Albany, GA for the past forty one years. He was employed with Johnson Motor Lines as their terminal manager and later with AAA Cooper Transport as their general manager and retired from Kenney Construction Co. as their job superintendent. He was of the Civitan Club and the Traffic Club. He was a devoted and generous father, husband, grandfather and friend to all and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Burch Truitt, Albany, GA, a son Todd Truitt, Albany, GA, a daughter, Tara Truitt (Neal Wilkes), three brothers, Jim Truitt, Baltimore, MD, Mack Truitt, Lincolnton, GA, Bobby Gene Truitt, Augusta, GA, three sisters, Peggy Stewart, Warrenton, GA, Lucy Wallace, Elberton, GA and Terry Williamson, Gainesville, GA, his step-mother, Dora Truitt, Clinton, SC, four grandchildren, Nikki Truitt, Nigel Wilkes, Fiona Wilkes, Liam Wilkes and a great-grandchild, Carolyn Truitt.
The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
