William Robert (Bill) Walton

William Robert (Bill) Walton, 62, of Albany, GA, died Thursday February 9, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal in Albany, GA. Rev. Jay Weldon and Deacon Jim Purks will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Abbeville, GA.

A native of Macon, GA, Mr. Walton graduated from high school in 1967 from Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA. He married Bonnie in 1969 and they lived in Atlanta, GA, while he attended Georgia State University. Bill received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Georgia State University.

He worked as a state auditor for the Georgia Board of Regents. He then took a position as Vice President of Business Affairs at Fort Valley State College. In 1982 he accepted a position with the same title at Roanoke College in Salem, VA. In 1992 he took a job with the J. W. Jones Research Center in Newton, GA, where he retired in 2008. He served as chairman of the board for the Albany Area Primary Healthcare Group and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Walton, Albany, GA, a son and his wife, David Walton and Ginger, Sylvester, GA, a daughter, Kelley Walton, Albany, GA, a brother and his wife, Zonia, Dawsonville, GA and a grandson, Will Walton, Sylvester, GA.
