William H. "Bill" Pollard, Jr. of Albany, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Willson Hospice House.
His memorial service will be 11 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in the Walden Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Rev. Thad Haygood and Rev. Scott Stanfill will officiate.
A native of Grove Hill, AL, Mr. Pollard grew up in Daphne, AL and moved to Albany in 1975 with DeVore Knight and Company which later became Acosta Food as a sales representative. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Bill was an avid sports fan, in high school he lettered in football, baseball and basketball and was the captain of his football team his senior year. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and cooking - he was especially known for his gumbo and barbecue but if you really knew Bill you knew the love and compassion he had for his grandkids he loved them almost as much as he loved his Alabama football team. He never missed a game - win or lose - Roll Tide!
He was preceded in death by his loving parents William Henry Pollard and Frances Young Pollard.
Survivors include his wife Jeanne Pollard, Albany; daughters, Donna Pollard Shore (Marc), Longwood, FL, Karen Pollard May (Joe) Quincy, FL, grandchildren David Shore, Brittany Shore, Josie May, Perry May; great grandchildren, David Shore, Jr., Peyton Shore; sister Emily Hammond; niece Lisa Covington, nephew Mike Hammond and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
