William Eugene (Gene) Pearson

William E. (Gene) Pearson of Oakfield, GA, died Monday, May 18, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Joe Poitevint will officiate. Interment will follow in Oakfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Oakfield, GA.

Gene was born in Oakfield, GA on April 17, 1940. Gene graduated from Albany High School in 1958, worked for Merck Chemical Company for 37 years, and spent most of his life in Albany, Putney, and Oakfield. Gene loved his family and friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and NASCAR racing.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Robert Edward Pearson and Edna Carroll Pearson.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie D. Pearson; daughters, Tammy Rosario, Alexandria, VA, Carol Daughtry (Terry), Sylvester, GA, Kim Landin (Jeff), Putney, GA, and stepson Marc High, Camilla, GA, nine grandchildren, Kimberly Marina White, Savannah Rosario, Matthew Daughtry, Andrew Daughtry, Alex Landin, Adam Landin, Olivia Landin, Haden High, Maliri High, three great grandchildren; a brother Richard "Rip" Pearson (Sue), Albany, GA, and a cousin Gary Pearson, Oakfield, GA.

The family will receive friends at their residence and Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
