William Lamar Owens

William Lamar Owens, 76, of Lee County, GA, died November 28, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM at Lakeside Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Chancellor and Rev. Royce Freeman will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, GA.

A native of Wigham, GA, born to the late Alford T. and Clara James Owens, he moved to Albany, GA in 1969 from Cordele, GA and had resided in Lee County since 1984. Mr. Owens was employed with RMCBS Food Brokers and retired in 2001. Mr. Owens was also the owner of Super Glass Windshield Repair of Dothan, AL and the former owner of Owens Grocery and Meats in Albany, GA. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church where he was an Ordained Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years. Pearline Bowen Owens of Lee County, GA, three sons, Randy Owens and his wife, Kay of Cordele, GA, Tony Owens of Panama City Beach, FL and Chris Owens and his wife, Dee Ann of Leesburg, GA, a brother, Clarence Lee Owens and his wife, Barbara of Shasta, CA, six grandchildren, Wes (Kathy) Bennett of Cordele, GA, Don (Amy) Owens and Jonathan Owens all of Columbia, TN, Matthew Owens of Sylvester, GA, Meagan Owens of Lee County, GA and Justin (Mandy) Owens of Albany, GA and nine great-granchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Mathews Funeral Home.
