William David Loveless

William D. "Billy" Loveless, 83, of Albany, GA died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Sherwood Baptist Church Chapel. Rev. Tom Pollock and Pastor Ervin Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens. The Albany Fire Department, Masonic Bodies, Aaron Todd, Chet Banks, Danny Gardener, Bill Banks, Roy Miller and Pete Barron will serve as honorary pallbearers. Gary Dyes, Ken Brooks, Roy Harden, Scott Smith, Jack Duren, and Kenny Laudenberger will serve as pallbearers.

A native Macon, GA, Mr. Loveless graduated from Lanier High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He had resided in Albany since 1952 and retired from the Albany Fire Department as a Captain after thirty five years of service.

He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church, and the Encouragers Sunday School Class. Mr. Loveless was a member of Triangle Lodge #708 F&AM, he was 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of Hasan Shrine Temple, the Red Devil Clown Unit and a member of Royal Order of the Jesters, Court #159.

Survivors include, his wife, Sara Alligood Loveless of Albany, GA, two daughters, Judy Burt and her husband, Fred of Baconton, GA, Delores Phillips and her husband, Ken of Lee County, GA, four grandchildren, Shawn Vallandingham and his wife, Christy, and Craig Burt all of Lee County, GA, Chris Burt of Baconton, GA and Carla McNeil and her husband, Chuck of Baconton, GA, six great-grandchildren, Tyler Vallandingham, Fuller Vallandingham, Hudson Vallandingham, Hunter McNeil, Gage McNeil, and Kearson Burt, and a brother, Dan Loveless of Macon, GA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Loveless (1978), three brothers, Joe Dyes, Jimmy Dyes and Oscar Dyes and a sister, Mary Hardison.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
