William K. "Buddy" Lane, Jr.

William Kelvin “Buddy” Lane Jr., 61, of Albany, GA died Monday, June 10, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. His memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with visitation to follow.

Buddy was born in Augusta, Georgia on September 12, 1957 to Dr. and Mrs. William Kelvin Lane. He is Survived by wife Debra Lane, parents Rachel and Kelvin Lane, brothers: John Lane, Ed Lane, And Mark Lane, sister Gini Lane, daughters: Lindsey Zevnik and Mary Brooks Cole, and stepdaughter Kristen Hill.

Buddy moved to Albany in 1971 with his parents and siblings. He attended Westover High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the University of Georgia in 1980. Upon graduation, Buddy returned to Albany where he worked in Insurance and Finance until deciding to pursue a career in Nursing. Buddy graduated from the Darton College of Nursing at Albany State University on May 10, 2019.

Buddy loved music, art, the outdoors, and fall weekends spent in Athens at Georgia football games. His greatest love, however, was reserved for his family. All conversations with Buddy would inevitably return to his wife and daughters. His love and pride in his children was always present and will remain with them forever.

Buddy was a loving son, brother, husband, and father and he will be deeply missed.
