William Izell Jones

William Izell Jones, 87, of Columbus, GA formerly of Leesburg, GA died Friday, November 3, 2017 at Kindred Hospice in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg, GA.

Born in Dawson, GA, Mr. Jones had resided in Columbus, GA for the past nine years moving from Leesburg, GA where he had resided for twenty seven years. He was an owner/operator of Jones Trucking and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Jones and Willie Mae Eubanks Jones, brothers, Aubrey Jones, Jr., Jack Jones and Toby Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Moseler Jones, Columbus, GA, children, Fred Jones (Shannon, Ft. Smith, AR, LouAnn Jones, Ft. Smith, AR, Kevin Jones, Jacksonville, FL, Jeff Jones (Becky), Dawson, GA, Teresa Presley (Larry), Columbus, GA, Todd Jones (Laura), Leesburg, GA, Cindy Montgomery (Mike), Athens, GA, Eric Jones (Claudia), Albany, GA, sister, Betty Davis, brothers, Tony Jones (Christine), Terry Jones (Murlene), twenty grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
