William "Jack" Lankford Lowery

William “Jack” Lankford Lowery, 88 of Sylvester, GA., died Monday, October 7, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens with military honors.

Born in Helena, GA to the late J.B. and Dora Kate Lowery, Jack served his country in the United States Navy. While in the military he worked as a barber. Following his military career, he worked with his father as a barber and worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing at his place in Ft. Gaines. Jack was a hard-working man and still managed to have time to raise his two daughters as a single father. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Jack was a member the Albany Moose Lodge #1285, First Baptist Church of Putney and attended Sunnyside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Anne Oliver and her husband Norman E. Oliver, Jr. and Jacquelyn Elaine Brown and her husband William A. Brown, his grandchildren, Tristan Michael Brown, Ashley Anne Leming and Briley Elizabeth Brown, two sisters Nan Youngblood and Dee Rolling, his best friend Matthew Anderson and his wife Sally, a niece Marcia Cox and his nephews Thomas Cox, Tommy Cox and Marc Cox.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
