William H. Hancock

William H. "Bill" Hancock, 66, of Baconton, GA, died December 29, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Etheredge will officiate. The United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will provide Military Honors.

A native of Moultrie, GA, Bill grew up in Clearwater, FL and moved to Albany, GA in 1974. He joined The United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Bill was wounded in action and was awarded The Purple Heart and The RVN Gallantry Cross.

He was employed with Albany Auto Service for many years and opened BK Auto Air and Repair Service in 1996 and retired in 2013. Bill was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2785 and Loyal Order Of The Moose # 1285. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, billiards and cards.

His family includes his wife, Kay Hancock of Baconton, GA, his children, Tonya Michelle (Dale) Curles of Albany, GA, John William "Bubba" (Jessica) Hancock of Baconton, GA, Shary (Dale) Ellsworth of Albany, GA, Sean (Missy) Casey of Worth Co., GA, Jimmy Steele of McDonough, GA and Davis Allen Hancock (1971-2011), his siblings, Linda (Tim) Saunders of Locust Grove, GA, Judy Clayton of Moultrie, GA, Wayne (Sandy) Hancock of Worth Co., GA and David Hancock of Baconton, GA and his grandchildren, Dakota Hancock and Savannah Hancock of Summerville, SC, Canyon Hancock of Lee Co., GA, Emily and Haley Hancock of Baconton, GA, Baylee Curles of Albany, GA, Gabrielle (Mason) Griffith of Lee Co., GA, Koltyn Casey of Worth Co., GA, Justin Frakes of Albany, GA and J.J. Castro of Albany, GA. He is also survived by numerous friends that he loved dearly and one very special best friend, Bud Williamson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
