William Sidney Fender, 74, of Albany, GA, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Avalon United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Lanning will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Avalon United Methodist Church.
A native of Moultrie, GA, he was born to the late William Glenn Fender and Lila Ruth Giddens Fender. Mr. Fender had resided in Albany, GA for the past sixty years and was formerly employed with the City of Albany and was the retired owner of Sid’s Duct Cleaning Service. He was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church where he was active in the Love Thy Neighbor Program.
Survivors include his wife, Velma G. Fender of Albany, GA, two sons, Greg Fender and his wife, Ginger of Watkinsville, GA and Mark Fender and his wife, Lashonda of Albany, GA, four grandsons, Zack Fender and his wife, Lacy and their son, Cheston all of Albany, GA, Nick Fender (USMC) stationed in San Diego, CA, Matt Fender of Albany, GA and Ethan Fender of Americus, GA, a brother, Randy Fender and his wife, Sheila of Orangeburg, SC, his sisters and their husbands, Sue and Don McPherson of Lakeland, FL, Jane and John Pearson and Sharon and Doyle Thomas all of Brunswick, GA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Barnes.
