William Thomas Etheridge

William Thomas (Tom) Etheridge, 75, of Albany, GA, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Pollock and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Evergreen, AL, Mr. Etheridge graduated from Livingston State University, Livingston, AL and received his Master of Education from University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL. After teaching at Lagrange High School he moved to Albany, GA in 1967. He has taught at Albany High School and Dougherty High School and was Math Supervisor for Dougherty County. Mr. Etheridge retired as principal of Sylvandale Elementary School in Albany, GA in 1993 and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Etheridge, Albany, GA, a brother, Billy Etheridge, Atmore, AL, two sisters, Emma Nell Phillips, Brewton, AL and Mary Boullion, Alexandria, VA.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Mathews Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
