William Fred (Bill) Brooks, Sr

The funeral service of William Fred (Bill) Brooks, Sr., 82, of Albany, GA, who died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Phoebe North Hospital, will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ralph Estes will officiate. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens, Pelham, GA.

A native of Pelham, GA, Mr. Brooks had resided in Albany most of his adult life. He graduated from Pelham High School, attended business school in Atlanta and was an Army Veteran serving in Germany.

Mr. Brooks was a self made man and was one of the founders of Giles Builders Supply. He was the former owner of Windsor and Summit Apartments and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Brooks of Albany, GA, a son, William Fred Brooks, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Lee Co., GA, a daughter, Maria Brooks of Germany, two step-sons, Scott Baines and his wife, Dina of Leesburg, GA and Rick Baines and his wife, Pam of Carrolton, GA, a grandchild, Laurence Brooks Hubbard and her husband, James of Lacey WA, two step-grandchildren, Brittany Yarbrough and Beth Baines both of Carrolton, GA and one step-great-grandchild, Wesley Yarbrough of Carrolton, GA.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
