Wilburn (Will) Ivy, 83, of Albany, GA, died December 28, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. William E. (Butch) Knight, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors.
A native of Richton, MS, Mr. Ivy had resided in Albany, GA for the past forty one years. He served for twenty years in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Ivy retired at Camp Lejeune, moved to Albany, GA and along with his late wife; Mary Frances Taylor Ivy owned and operated Albany Auto Auction for forty years.
Mr. Ivy was a lifetime member of the Wheel Club of the Georgia Independent Auto Dealers Association (GIADA) and served as Vice President in 1986. He was also a member of Lafayette Masonic Lodge # 83 F&AM in Jacksonville, NC and the First Baptist Church of Albany. He was a licensed Auctioneer (# 206) and was an honorary Georgia State Trooper.
Survivors include a son, Robert Dale Ivy of Albany, GA, three daughters, Beverly Williamson and her husband Curtis of Albany, GA, Sharon Bonner and her fiance', Joseph Snider of Leesburg, GA and Nancy Brooks and her husband, Keith of Albany, GA, a brother, Jim Ivy of Albany, GA, grandchildren, Hunter Brooks and Taylor Brooks of Albany, GA, Brandi Branch and her husband, Fred, Jody Johnson and his wife, Whitney, Travis Boyd, Brian Ivy and David Ivy, Shawn Harper and his wife, Amy, two step-grandchildren, David Williamson and his wife, Sara and Harmony Chason and her husband, Robby and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
