Wesley “Red” Johnson, 86, of Albany, GA., died Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Etheridge and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens with military honors.
A native of Garfield, GA., Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served proudly in the United States Navy. “Red” worked for Daniel Construction Company for twenty seven years. After his employment he pursued his passion in cabinet making and started Johnson Cabinets, were he took pride in his craftsmanship. Mr. Johnson was a member of Mercedes Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over thirty years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Johnson, three brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his children, Alan Johnson, Beverly Davis (Jack), Roger Johnson (Kristie), all of Albany, GA., Laura Ogier (Raymond) of Smiths Station, AL., Raymond Johnson of Albany, GA., and Thomas Johnson (Paulette) of Morristown, TN., thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Mathews Funeral Home.
