Wayne Albert Markoski

Wayne Albert Markoski, 71, of Leesburg, GA passed away, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be conducted Monday, June 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Henry will officiate. Services will conclude with the Albany Police Honor Guard.

Born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Wayne joined the United States Army in 1963 to 1966; then in 1967 to 1971 he joined the United States Air Force, during this time in the service, he served one year in Vietnam.

In 1971 he moved to Albany, GA with his wife where he started his career with the Albany Police Department. He served the public of Albany, GA for twenty one and a half years; he retired in 1992 from the Albany Police Department.

During this time his favorite pass time was being part of his grandchildren's lives and wood crafting. Wayne Markoski was a true man that believed in "Love is Family and Family is Love".

Survivors include his wife of forty nine years, Patricia G. Blankenship Markoski; his daughter, Sandra G. Markoski Reid, his two grandchildren, Anthony Reid (Linzi Waller) and Joey Reid; his great grandchild Brayden Reid; his nephews, Richard Blankenship (Kelly) Ronald Blankenship, Roger Blankenship, niece, Debra Blankenship Edwards (Van), sister-in-law, Brenda Blankenship and many close family and friends.

The family will receive friends following the services at Mathews Funeral Home.
