Warren G. Maddox

Warren Guthrie Maddox passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Albany. Rev. Joshua Bower will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens with Military Honors.

Warren was preceded in death by Josephine Maddox. Survivors include James (Jessie) Maddox of Huntsville, Alabama; Miriam (Joshua) Pollock of Albany, Georgia; Julian Maddox of Albany, Georgia; Martha Bohannon of Albany, Georgia; Norma Bell of Nashville, Tennessee; Bill Maddox of Nashville, Tennessee; Matt Maddox, Chris Maddox, John Maddox, and Cathleen Steele; grandchildren Marisol, Kathleen, Sarah, Elizabeth, Lena, Sky, Rain, Cary, Anna, and Emily.

Warren was a courageous soldier, an inspired teacher, a vigorous thinker, and a loving father. He served in the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion at the Battle of the Bulge, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He loved languages and spoke several fluently, especially French, which he taught for many years. Aviation was a life-long love which he enjoyed as both a pilot and flight instructor. He was a man of faith who took great interest in religion, philosophy, and conscious conversation. Most of all, he was a loving father, whose children knew above all that they were given his unqualified love.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 am until funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to the family to defray funeral expenses.
