Warren Otis Brinson

Warren Otis Brinson was born in Soperton, Georgia on November 25, 1927, the second child of Alvie Otis Brinson and Cora Lee Calhoun Brinson. Mr. Brinson passed away on September 5, 2015.

Graduating from Soperton High School in 1945, he joined the United States Navy, serving as a Hospital Corpsman. When his enlistment ended, he enrolled in Mercer University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1950 and Master Degree in Education 1955.

He coached basketball, tennis, golf, and football at Hazlehurst, Fitzgerald, and Terrell County High Schools. He spent a number of years in the insurance and restaurant businesses and managed the Dawson Golf and Country Club before retiring from the Southeastern Seniors, a golf circuit that staged tournaments for older golfers.

Mr. Brinson was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the Mercer University Lettermen's Club where he earned a varsity letter as a member of the golf team. He was once Executive Secretary of the Southeastern Association of Independent Schools.

Preceded in death by his first wife, the late Kay Crittenden Brinson, and daughter Carey Brinson Nelson; he is survived by his wife Patricia Williams Brinson of Albany; son Britt (Marilyn)Brinson of Cordele; stepson Matt (Tracy)Keller of Albany; granddaughters Brittany Nelson (Joey) Albritton of Hawkinsville, GA, Madison Keller, Albany, GA, grandson Reid Brinson of Cordele; and great grandsons J.B. and Hunter Albritton.

A memorial service will be held at the Sherwood Baptist Church chapel on Wednesday morning, September 9, 2015 beginning at 11:00 am. Visitation will precede the memorial service at 10:00 am.
