Wanda Gail Ruffin Lessard

Wanda Gail Ruffin Lessard, of Albany, GA, passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 73. The family will have a visitation at their residence on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at 311 Philema Road, Albany, GA, 31701. 

 Born on October 25, 1951, in Pelham, Georgia, to the late Clifford Varnett and Romell Sullivan Ruffin.She was a graduate of Albany Tech, where she earned her cosmetology degree, and then she dedicated over 22 years of her career to Yellow Roadway Freight Lines, where she served as a supervisor. 

Wanda cherished her time camping and fishing. She had a particular affinity for the beach and enjoyed tending to her flowers and caring for the hummingbirds that visited her yard. Furthermore, she was a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, proudly supporting her team through every season. Socially, Wanda enjoyed playing Bunco with friends, an activity that provided her with laughter and cherished memories.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents and a beloved sister, Carolyn Alligood.

She was a devoted wife to her surviving husband, Kenneth Lessard, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage, also survived by her nephew, Michael Alligood (Tracy) of Leesburg, GA, and her sister-in-law, Anita Lessard Lengle of Stockbridge, GA. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
