Walter L. Conley

Walter L. Conley, 63, of Calhoun County, GA passed away June 6, 2018 while working at the farm.  Memorial services will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Pastor Jean Watson will officiate.  Interment will follow at Cordray Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at Mathews Funeral Home.

Walter was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County, GA. He was born on December 20, 1954 to the late James L. and Eula Gertrude Conley. He graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1973 and was employed with Sudderth Farms for forty years.

Walt was a proud husband and father who shared Dylan’s accomplishments with a broad smile. He was the personification of kindness and generosity. Walt was willing to help in any possible way, whether working on a vehicle or something as simple as changing batteries in smoke detectors. He loved his family and friends with a love that was obvious to anyone who knew him. Walt had the rare ability to make his siblings and many nieces and nephews feel as if they were his favorite. His love for all of them was that strong.

Walt had a big heart for animals, especially dogs, from the time he was a little boy, and for the past ten years he lavished that love on his family’s fur baby, Niko. They took walks, played and “talked” over the problems of the world.

Walt—husband, father, son, brother and friend—you will be missed but NEVER forgotten!

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Brewer Conley, his son, Dylan Conley both of Calhoun County, GA, his siblings, Sadie (Izell Bee) Sills of Leary, GA, Becky Brazel of Calhoun County, Hubert (Gisela) Conley of Herod, GA, Eunice (Gary) Guiberson of Woodstock, GA, Jean (Jack) Murphy, Lola (Leonard) Standley and Vana Thornton all of Calhoun County, and Jaki (Jeff) Crowder of Marietta, GA, Jimmy (Connie) Conley and many nieces and nephews.
