Wallace Leon Gaines

Wallace Leon Gaines, known to friends and family as “Wally”, of Albany, GA, passed away Friday, July 06, 2018 at the age of 90. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 10, at 11:00 am at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Charlie Brown will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

 Wally was born February 12, 1928, in Moultrie, GA, to the late Robert and Luna Gaines. He graduated from Moultrie High School. On October 20, 1954, he married Joyce Gaines in Albany, GA. He served his country in the United States Army for 2 years. Wally enjoyed gardening, fishing, umpiring, having coffee at breakfast with friends, and spending time with family. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

 Survivors include his wife of 63 years Joyce Gaines, a son Scott Gaines and his wife Laura of Sarasota, FL, a daughter Terrie Phillips and her husband Harold “Phil” Phillips, Jr., of Albany, GA; four grandchildren Mark Gaines of Truckee, CA, Lindsay Gaines of Ft. Myers, FL, Kallie Phillips Little and her husband Michael of Atlanta, GA, and Katie Langub and her husband Alex of Alpharetta, GA; and a brother Cecil Gaines of Moultrie, GA.

 The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
