Vivian Hancock Belcher

Vivian Hancock Belcher, 89 of Albany, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Magnolia Manor.

Her funeral service will be 3 PM Saturday at Raleigh White Baptist Church with interment in Floral Memory Gardens. Dr. Jerry Kennedy will officiate.

Mrs. Belcher was born in Sylvester, GA on November 17, 1927. After high school graduation from Worth County High she moved to Albany, GA in 1944 and began her first job as a waitress where she met the love of her life. After working in the home for many years she returned to the workforce retiring from MCLB as an accounting technician. She was an active member of Raleigh White Baptist Church, an avid gardener and an excellent cook. She prepared Wednesday night suppers for the church for 15 plus years. She was especially known for her little 12 layer chocolate cakes that would often be found on her kitchen table any day of the week and her home most always smelled of chocolate when you walked in her back door.

Her family, church family and neighbors were the most important things in her life. She prepared Sunday lunch every Sunday for all who showed up to eat, never running out of anything. She provided transportation to and from church for three special ladies that were unable to provide their own transportation, even exiting the vehicle to physically assist one of them to safely exit the vehicle. She always shared her talents as a gardener, sharing her flowers and the always sharing the food she prepared with all she came in contact with.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Belcher and daughter-in-law Myra Johnston Belcher.

Survivors include her son Lynwood Belcher (Elaine), Albany, daughter, Pam Belcher Addison (Terry), Albany; grandchildren, Mitchell Belcher (Becky), Michael Addison, Melanie Starnes (Wayne), Amy Wilson (Ronnie), Jessica Duke (Jimmy), great grandchildren, Danielle Starnes, Emma Starnes, Rhiannon Belcher, Rylee Belcher, Lorelei Abney, Easton Wilson and a sister, Shelby Jean Bass (Bill).
