Virginia H. Matthews

Virginia H. Matthews, 95, of Baker Co., GA passed away Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Willson Hospice House. Private graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery.  

A long-time resident of Baker Co., GA, Mrs. Matthews was retired from the Baker County Georgia Extension Office. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Pilgrim Home Free Will Baptist Church and served as their pianist as well as the pianist for Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she later became a member after Pilgrim Home Free Will Baptist Church closed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Tom Hilburn and Johnnie Godfrey Hilburn, husband, Elward Matthews and a son-in-law, Jimmy Shiver.

Survivors include a son, Elward A. (Eddie) Matthews, a daughter, Charlotte Shiver both of Baker Co., GA and four grandchildren, Kyle Matthews, Tim Shiver, Brenda Horton and Jim Shiver and five great-grandchildren.
