Virginia Jones

The funeral service of Virginia Jones, 83, of Albany, GA, who died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Willson Hospice House, will be conducted Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Ministries, 2320 Liberty Expressway SE, Albany, GA 31705. Rev. Chris Turner will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery as conducted by Associate Pastor Joseph Jones.

A native of Gibson, GA, Mrs. Jones had resided in Albany, GA for the past seventy years and was a devoted homemaker. As a singer/songwriter, she performed for over forty years with her late husband, Doyle Jones, daughter, Donna and others as The Jones Family Gospel Singers. She ministered to countless souls through song traveling to places of worship across the southeast. She was a member of Lighthouse Ministries.

Survivors include a son, D. Michael Jones (Kimberly), Portland, Oregon, three daughters, Sonja Lee (Rannie), Coats, NC, Deborah Jacobs (Kent), Bagdad, FL and Donna Greene (Mike), Leesburg, GA, a brother, Roney Thigpen (Betty), Putney, GA, a sister, Kathryne McCroan (Kenneth), Coosada, AL, thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friend Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
