Vernice W. Hastings

Vernice Woods Hastings, 71, of Albany, GA died January 31, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. David Benton will officiate.
A native of Rome, GA, born to the late Raymond and Thelma Jane Woods, Mrs. Hastings had resided in Albany, GA since 1956. She grew up in Pine Bluff Baptist Church and later in life attended the First Baptist Church of Putney. She attended Dougherty County Schools and was a Free Lance Florist.
Survivors include her husband, Joe J. Hastings, Sr. of Albany, GA, three children, Teresa Townsend and her husband, Barry of Albany, GA, Sheila Torongeau and her husband, Lyle of Huntsville, AL and Joe J. Hastings II and his wife, Angie of Albany, GA, three sisters, Liz Pollock of Albany, GA, Linda Maimouni and her husband, Aziz of Smyrna, GA and Donna Yarter and her husband, Michael of Marietta, GA, her grandchildren, Miranda Clark, Morgan Clark, Brittany Townsend and Jason Townsend all of Albany, GA, Amber Martel and her husband, Brandon and Dawn Mason and her husband, Joshua all of Madison, AL and Mindy Torongeau of Huntsville, AL and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa (Missie) Clark, and her parents, Raymond and Thelma Woods
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home.
