Verna Ray Adams

Verna Ray Adams, 89, of Calhoun Co., GA died Saturday, May 5, 2018 on his farm. Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Jerry Roe, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Cordray Church Cemetery, Calhoun Co., GA.

A native and lifelong resident of Calhoun Co., GA, Mr. Adams was born July 26, 1928 to the late Tommie and Lura McDonald Adams. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a successful and well-known farmer, always ready to lend a helping hand.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Cook Adams, sister, Willie Ella Hemmings and a brother Louis Adams.

Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Raines and husband, Mike Raines, Americus, GA, Tracy Poulos and husband, Jeff, St. Simons Island, GA, a son, Dr. Stephen Ray Adams, Richmond, VA, cherished grandchildren, Adam McLendon and his wife, Haley, Leary, GA, Jeremy Raines and his wife, Grace, Hayward, CA, Katie Tippett and husband, Jordan, St. Simons Island, GA, Traci Smith and her husband, Elliott, St. Simons Island, GA and Debi McLendon, Tifton, GA, seven beloved great-grandchildren, Ella and Kirkland McLendon, Raines, Mae and Bonnie Ray Tippett, Savannah and Natalie Smith, his brothers, Curtis Adams, Leary, GA and Tony Adams and his wife, Sue, Jasper, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
