Verna Brooke Overton Chestnutt

Verna Brooke Overton Chestnutt, 100, of Albany, GA passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at Lee County Heath and Rehabilitation. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Jim Morrow will officiate.

Born in Sylvester, GA, Mrs. Chestnutt had resided in Albany, GA most all of her life. She was retired from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Chestnutt was a member of the Hawk Sunday School Class, the UTU Auxiliary (Railroad), WMW and Circle of the First United Methodist Church of Albany, GA where she was a member.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Henry Overton and Emma Belle Sessions and a son, Lynn Earl Chestnutt.

Survivors include her son, John Arthur Chestnutt and his wife Jane of Lawrenceville, GA, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorials in memory of Verna Brooke Overton Chestnutt to The Kitchen Fund, Miracle Meals or Alter Fund in c/o the First United Methodist Church of Albany, 307 Flint Ave., Albany, GA, 31701.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
