A native of Macon, Mr. Sullivan was born to the late Victor Carlysle Sullivan, Sr. and Marye Strange Sullivan on April 24, 1930. He graduated from Macon’s Lanier High School in 1947, and then attended Mercer University for two years before matriculating to the University of Georgia (UGA), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1952 and was member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduation, he served on active duty in the United States Air Force for four years. Following military service, Mr. Sullivan returned to UGA where he earned a Master of Business Administration in Accounting in 1959, preparing him for his future as a Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Sullivan was on active duty with the United States Air Force from 1953-1956. He was a pilot with the 31st Fighter Wing, 309th Squadron and was deployed to Japan. After returning to the US, he was stationed at Turner Air Field in Albany, Georgia, as part of the USAF StrategicAir Command. He flew F-84 Thunderjets and F-86 Sabre fighter jets. Years later, he often jokingly took credit for keeping the Russians out of America. After active duty, he served in the USAF reserve. He loved to share his stories of his fighter pilot days, a time in his life in which he took great pride.

While stationed in Albany, he met his late wife, Lillian Lackland Sullivan, who passed away in 2012 after 56 years of marriage. They had four sons who were the light of their lives. Spending time together as family was always their main focus, often while traveling and seeing America.

Mr. Sullivan was a Certified Public Accountant, where he managed his own firm throughout his career. He was a member the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. He was a member of the Gridiron Secret Society, a charter member of Doublegate Country Club, a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, a founder of the Halcyon Club of Albany, a past president of the Albany Bulldog Club, a member of the American Legion Post 30, and Secretary of the Board for the American Diabetes Foundation. Additionally, he was an active member of the Albany Kiwanis Club for 57 years and a Life Member of the UGA President’s Club.

Up to his death, two of his passions were volunteering weekly at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and serving on the Southern Georgia Easter Seals board. He had a deep love for his family, grandchildren, and friends. Mr. Sullivan enjoyed his family’s summer home at Lake Blackshear, UGA football, reading, and traveling. It was at Lake Blackshear where he found his peace and solace.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Carlysle Sullivan, Sr. and Marye Strange Sullivan, along with his wife, Lillian Lackland Sullivan. He is survived by his four sons and their wives: Vic (Jane Anne); Tommy (Colleen); Frank (Meredith); and Byrd (Shana); grandchildren: Victor C. Sullivan, IV (Katie) of Albany, Georgia; Margaret Sullivan (and her fiancé William R. Keyes) of Atlanta, Georgia; Saville Sullivan, Lilia Sullivan, Clarke Sullivan, Hayden Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, Will Sullivan, Ben Sullivan and Charles Sullivan all of Albany, Georgia. He is also survived by his dear brother, William T. “Bill” Sullivan and his wife, Sarah, of Seagrove Beach, Florida.
