Tommy Lee Franklin, CLU, 71, of Albany, GA, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jay Weldon and Deacon Joy Davis will officiate. Tommy's cremains will be interred at St. Patrick's Columnbarium.
A native of Sandersville, GA, Tommy was born to the late Tommie Lee Franklin and Ruby Moore Franklin. He graduated from Sandersville High School in 1959, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Phillip Business College in Augusta, GA.
He moved to Albany, GA in 1967 from Richmond, VA to be the plant accountant for Potlatch (now Georgia Pacific). He was employed with American General Life Insurance Company for twenty seven years and was also the former owner of Frankco Bakery. Tommy was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was an usher. He was a member of Grand Island Country Club and was an avid golfer and deep sea fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Davis Franklin, two sons, Mark D. Franklin and his wife, Nancy of Albany and W. Keith Franklin of Leesburg, GA, a brother, Carey E. Franklin (Jacque Kristoff) of Milledgeville, GA, a sister and her husband, Louise F. and Ed Veal of Deep Step, GA, two grandchildren, Meagan E. Franklin and Matthew T. Franklin both of Leesburg, GA and his mother-in-law, Doris R. Davis of Swainsboro, GA.
The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church.
