Thomas Warren (Buck) Giles

Thomas Warren (Buck) Giles, 88, of Leesburg. GA died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Melvin Slappey will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A graduate of Moultrie High School in 1948. Buck moved to Albany in 1952 and settled down with his wife, Agnes, where they began planting their family roots. He started in the grocery business with Giles Super Market and then opened Giles Five Points Grocery. He was also in construction and drove semis coast to coast, but he loved being a farmer best. Something ingrained in him from his early years in which he was raised down in Doerun, GA.

Buck loved working with his hands, plowing the land and planting peach and pecan groves, but most of all he loved his family and helping others. He never met a stranger, and if you ever had the opportunity to meet him, you knew exactly where you stood and you’d better have some time on your hands, because he loved to tell stories about the good ‘ole days. He was a member of Kinchafoonee Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Giles and Mamie Ree Taylor Giles, two sons, Timothy Wayne Giles, Joseph C. (Joe) Giles, twin grandsons, Jacob Giles and Bradley Giles and a brother, Ellis B. Giles.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes Moore Giles, Albany, GA, a son, Beau Giles (Joy), Panama City Beach, FL, two daughters, Vickie Giles Griffin, Albany, GA, Susan Giles Tucker (Steve), Leesburg, GA, two brothers, Ronald Giles (Beverly), Valdosta, GA, B. F. Giles (Beverly), Bradenton, FL. eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
