Thomas Emory Turner

Lt. Col Thomas Emory Turner, (US Army Retired), 76 of Leesburg, GA. died Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Viva Senior Living at Albany. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA with military honors. Mr. Ron Turner will officiate. 

Mr. Turner was born in Atlanta, GA on June 29, 1948. His parents were Emory and Betty Turner. He joined the Army through R.O.T.C, and soon decided to make it his life career. He married Donna Albritton Turner of Austin, TX. He obtained a Master of Business Administration at Sam Houston State University. He graduated from Command and General Staff Officer Course College in 1990. He became Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and retired after twenty-six years of service in 1996.  

His main places of service included: Ft. Benning, Bamberg, Germany, South Korea and ending at the Pentagon. He conducted classified inquiries for the Secretary of the Army. His hobbies were woodworking and genealogy. Tom graduated Magna Cum Laude from Piedmont Bible College in 1999. He served the Lord by sharing his faith with others. Tom had a love for the Lord, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg after moving from Kernersville, NC. 

Tom leaves his brother Ron Turner (Anna) of Leesburg, GA and nephews John Mark Turner (Bonnie), grandniece Lena of Albany, GA, and Matthew Reed Turner and grandniece Alexandrea Turner of Lexington, SC. 

Those desiring may make donations in memory of Mr. Turner to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to First Baptist Church of Leesburg 135 Main Street E. Leesburg, GA 31763.
