Thomas Bryant Ezell

After 69 years of filling every room he ever entered, Thomas B. Ezell of Albany, GA, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 at home. Born in Tallahassee, FL, Tom was a lifelong resident of Albany, GA. He graduated in 1966 from Dougherty High School. He attended the Citadel briefly and went on to graduate from the University of Georgia. He worked as an account representative for N.A. Williams Co. for nearly 25 years traveling to small towns all over south GA and north FL. He sang along to the radio and ate a pack of Lance crackers on every trip. He spent the latter parts of his career as a stockbroker starting with the Robinson Humphrey Co. where he built a client portfolio based on the tremendous trust and loyalty he developed. Whether it was on a vacation, at the golf course, at the card table, or just the grocery store, Tom was a storyteller who connected with people through the laughs and lessons his stories contained. He never forgot a name or a face and he was the spark in every conversation. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Ruth Folsom Ezell and his sister Jane Holland. Tom is survived by his wife, Jesslyn G. Ezell, Albany, GA, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage raising children, grandchildren, and, reluctantly, the occasional pet. He is also survived by his son, Alex Ezell (Danielle), Blacksburg, VA; two stepsons, Will Geer, Atlanta, GA and Rob Geer, Americus, GA; a stepdaughter, Jessica Inskeep (Rick), Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Ray Ezell (Rita), Waynesville, NC and John Ezell (Betty), Bella Vista, AR; a sister, Bonnie Puffenbarger, Pascagoula, MS, and his father, Raymond O. Ezell, Tallahassee, FL. Tom was blessed with nine grandchildren: Ollie, Elizabeth, Zack, Luke, Quin, Grey, Xane, Seb, and Wiley. He was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. The Very Rev. H. Lee Lowery will officiate. The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home following the service.
