Thomas Marvin “Tom” Driggers, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on July 15, 2023. His service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, Albany, GA.  Visitation will precede the service at 10:00 A.M. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium at the church.

Born on January 10, 1937 in Pensacola, FA, Tom lived in Jacksonville for most of his early life.  He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954 and married the love of his life, Jackie Nicks, in 1956. They were married for 67 years.  After graduation from Georgia Tech in 1959, he began work with Beloit Corporation, Beloit, Wisconsin, as a research engineer.  He was sent to France to develop a paper coating machine for Beloit Corporation.  Tom later developed and designed golf clubs for MacGregor-Brunswick. He was also employed with the Cotton Producers Association.

Tom then formed his own Engineering Firm, Driggers and Associates in 1966.   He was Consulting Engineer and President. Later in Florida, he also formed another Engineering Firm, Guilford-Driggers, where he was President/CEO. He was a member of the Georgia Board of Professional Engineers.

A life-long Episcopalian, Tom was an Acolyte at St. John’s Cathedral in Jacksonville.  As an adult, he was active in the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia for many years.  He served as Rector of Cursillo #8, ten years on the Honey Creek Camp and Conference Committee, Diocesan Council, Board of the Corporation for the Diocese of Georgia, Capital Campaign Chair, Vestry, and Engineer for the Dental Clinic in Belize (sponsored by the Diocese of Georgia). Tom also served on the team that took Cursillo #1 to South Carolina.

Tom’s second home was Mexico Beach, Florida.  He enjoyed many years there with family and friends at their beach house, The Jon B. 

He was an active member of Lambda Chi Fraternity.  He enjoyed boating, hunting, birding, and gardening. He loved both freshwater and saltwater fishing.  He and Jackie loved their trips to Egypt, Ireland, Scotland, Jordan, Canada, Alaska and most of the Western United States.  They also loved attending Jazz Festivals and listening to their favorite music.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Marvin Driggers.  He is survived by his wife, Jackie, his daughter Terry Roberts (Milton) of Washington, GA, son Brent Driggers (Stacey) of Albany, GA, and son, Matthew Driggers of Dawson, GA, grandchildren Kelley Roberts and Milt Roberts of Atlanta, GA, Mallory Odom of Portland, OR, Ellie Driggers and Riley Driggers of Albany, and a niece, Marsha Higginbotham of Jacksonville, FL.
