Talmadge "Punk" Edwards, Sr.

Talmadge "Punk" Edwards, Sr., 88, of Baconton, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 11, 2024 at Mathews Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow to Mt. Enon Church Cemetery, Baconton, GA. Rev. Chris Turner will officiate.

Born on May 29, 1936, in Mitchell County, Georgia, to the late Woodrow Wilson and Elma Hobbs Edwards. He lived a full life characterized by love for his family and a profound appreciation for the joys of nature.

Punk dedicated much of his professional life to Merk Chemical Company, where he worked in maintenance. He was well-known not only for his hard work but also for his warm spirit and friendly demeanor. Punk enjoyed the simplicities of life, particularly spending time outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing, as well as tending to his cherished pecan trees and cutting grass. Additionally, he was an avid baseball fan, proudly supporting the Atlanta Braves throughout the years. One of Punk's proudest accomplishments was becoming known for Punk's boat landing on the Flint River

He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Jacob "Jack" Edwards, Tight Edwards, and Genene Garcia.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Evelyn "Dimple" Edwards of Baconton, GA. Children, Linda Ledford (Mike) of Rock Springs, GA; Teresa Presley of Thomaston, GA; and Talmadge Edwards, Jr. (Christina) of Baconton, GA. his grandchildren, Lisa Reeves (Tony), Mandy Mitchell (Nick), Christopher Presley, Jessica Chambers (Fred), Josh Edwards (Melissa), and Jonathan Edwards (Scarlett), as well as eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. his sister, Peggy Gordon (Gene) of Sycamore, GA.

The family will have a visitation for family and friends on November 11, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, at Mathews Funeral Home.
