T.W. Burt, 86, of Sasser, GA, died September 16, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Henry and Rev. Charlie Rouse will officiate. The deacons of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A native of Cairo, GA, he was born to the late Wiley and Josie Burt and he moved from Moultrie, GA to Albany, GA 1n 1964. Mr. Burt was employed with Georgia Mack Sales and Ryder Truck Rentals before founding Quality Wrecker Service in 1971. He moved to Sasser, GA in 1989 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sasser. Mr. Burt was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Lorene Burt and a brother, Jack Burt.
Mr. Burt enjoyed life to the fullest, still working and going to his business every day. His hobbies were deer hunting, gardening, sharing with family and friends and restoring antique farm tractors. Mr. Burt was a true outdoorsman with a strong love for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn E. Burt of Sasser, GA, two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Richard of Albany, GA and Brenda C. and Donald Smith of Gainesville, GA, three sons and their wives, Fred and Judy Burt of Baconton, GA, Wendell and Lisa Burt and Tony and Tammy Burt all of Leesburg, GA, a step-daughter, Kathy Sue (Nicki) Ricks of Flowery Branch, GA and Andy (Suzanne) Ricks of Braselton, GA, three sisters, Jean Hopkins and her husband, C.W. of Albany, GA, Janice Roberts and her husband, Carlton of Perry, FL and Katie Sinquefield of Maysville, GA, 11 grandchildren, Shelby Langley and her husband, Brent of Leesburg, GA, Shawn Robbins and her husband, Troy of Albany, GA, Aaron Cameron and his wife, Michelle of Smyrna, GA, Chris Burt of Baconton, GA and Craig Burt of Leesburg, GA, Carla McNeil and her husband, Chuck of Baconton, GA, Ashley Burt of Atlanta, GA, Crystal Waltman and her husband, Bruce of Leary, GA, Daniel Craft and his wife, Brittney, Dillon Craft and his wife, Hollyanne and Dalton Craft all of Leesburg, GA, one step-grandchild, Paul Ricks of Braselton, GA, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
