Susan Gayle Reed

Susan Gayle Reed, 56, of Leary, GA, died September 30, 2012 at Willson Hospice House. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Tom Shanker and Chris Kendrick will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

A native of Gary, IN, born to Ronald and Jewel Ballard, Susan graduated from William A. Wirt High School in 1974 and attended Purdue University. She had resided in the Albany area for the past twenty six years and moved to Notchaway Plantation a year ago.

Susan was an accomplished writer with nine novels to her credit and was currently finishing a guide to Disney World. She loved to cook, was an avid Disney connoisseur and was passionate about hunting and deep sea fishing

Survivors include her husband, Doug Reed of Leary, GA, five children, Jennifer Gibson and her husband, Jason of Seattle, WA, Amanda Gates and her husband, Hunter, Jesse Reed and his wife, Melinda all of Lee County, GA, Emma Taunton and her husband, Jonathan of Dougherty County, GA, Maggie Reed of Leary, GA and her fiance, Derrick Lewis of Leesburg, GA, her grandchildren, Rhiannon Fossett, Alex Fossett, Jack Gibson and Branson Gates, her mom, Elease Reed of Leesburg, GA, her sister-in-law, Pamela Ball and her husband, John of Asheville, NC, her brother-in-law, John Reed and his wife, Lainey of Allendale, SC, a nephew, Cole Reed of Allendale, SC and a niece, Ashley Stallings of Raleigh, NC.
