Mr. Sterling Addison, 69, of Albany, GA, formerly of Baker County, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Elder W. H. Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Sterling was born to Estul and Lois Sheffield Addison in Baker County in 1944. He was a graduate of Miller County High School and later attended Darton College and the University of Georgia. He served in the U. S. Army in the Vietnam War.
He lived most of his adult life in Albany and worked for the World Finance Organization, American General Insurance, and was owner/operator of Addison Lawn Spraying Service. Mr. Addison was a Master Gardner and enjoyed helping homeowners keep their lawn beautiful.
He had been an avid bass fisherman, but more recently enjoyed flying his remote control airplanes and helicopters. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and cheering for his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Addison was preceded in death by his father Estul Addison and a brother, Bobby E. Addison.
Survivors include a son, Todd C. Addison and his wife Ingrid of Birmingham, AL, a daughter, Whitney Addison Imeraj and her husband Genc, of Atlanta, GA, his mother, Louis Strickland of Albany, GA, his fiance, Loralei Schwartz of Valdosta, GA, two nephews, Bobby Addison of Nashville, TN and Billy Addison of Lee County and many friends.
Mr. Addison was most grateful for the kindness and care given to him by Phoebe Putney employees and Dr. Tongul and his staff during his battle with leukemia.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
