Stephen Blocker (Steve) Geer, Sr., 59, of Albany, GA died Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Albany. Dr. Don Adams will officiate. Interment will follow in the Colomokee Baptist Church Cemetery in Blakely, GA. Will Geer, Rob Geer, Lawrence Geer, Hank Goodyear, Fred Settles and Forrest Gay will serve as active pallbearers.
A native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA, Steve grew up in the Radium Springs area and graduated from Deerfield-Windsor School in 1971. He attended and graduated from the University of Georgia, where he received his business degree and was a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.
Steve was the proprietor of Country Spirits Package Store for twenty four years before becoming a partner in the family business, Geer Farms. He was former member of the Artesian City Sertoma Club and was Past President of the Georgia Beverage Association. Steve was a former member of the Dougherty County Board of Adjustments and Appeals and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albany and the Communion Sunday School Class. He was a loyal family man who was known for his kind spirit and loving personality.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda S. Geer of Albany, GA, two children, Sally Geer Boyd and her husband, Ryan of Albany, GA and Stephen Blocker Geer, Jr. and his wife, Sarah of Atlanta, GA, a sister, Ginger Geer Goodyear of Albany, GA, four brothers, Claude Wilson (Bucky) Geer, III and his wife, Ann Marie of Albany, GA, Robert Lawrence Geer and Charles Richard Geer and his wife, Patsy all of Lake Blackshear, GA, William Franklin (Bill) Geer and his wife, Shirley of Albany, GA and sixteen nieces and nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Wilson Geer, Jr. and Matilda Emma Hall Geer.
The family will receive friends Thursday at their residence.
