Shockley Cobb Pettis

Shockley Cobb Pettis, 70, of Smithville, GA., died Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Dennis Cooper will officiate.

A lifelong resident of Smithville, GA he retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base, were he worked as a configuration management specialist. Mr. Pettis was a great mechanic and he enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. He was preceded in death by his parents Cecil Lawrence Pettis, Sr. and Melrose Pettis, a brother Valley Steve Pettis and a sister Marion Linda Pettis. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his brother Cecil Lawrence "Larry" Pettis, Jr. and four nephews William Pettis, Timothy Hubbard, Larry Pettis and Lamar Pettis

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mathews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
