Shirley Rowland Barfield

Shirley Rowland Barfield, 79, of Leesburg, GA, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 at her daughter's home in Shelby, NC. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Shirley was born in Tifton, GA, to the late Owens and Ruby Rowland, she later married the love of her life Elton (Rooster) Barfield in 1954 until his passing in 2009. They were married 55 years and had 6 children. She worked in retail sales for most of her life and they owned and operated their own business until her retirement, she loved to fish, dance, gamble, and shop and her beloved dog and companion Darla. She will be greatly missed by all.

Mrs Barfield was preceded in death by her husband Elton (Rooster) Barfield, two daughters Shelby Ann Bennett and Glenda Jean Littleton, and a sister Jeanette Henry and two grandchildren Haley McIntyre and Kevin Barfield.

Survivors include, three daughters and one son, Sandra McDonald and husband Mike of Albany, Ga., Mary Butcher and husband George of Shelby, N.C. Elton Owens Barfield and wife Tina of Albany,Ga. , JoAnn Ruffin and husband Stan of Leesburg, GA., a step daughter Peggy Brown and husband Wayne of Aransas Pass TX, a brother Herbert Rowland and wife Pam of Palmetto, FL, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family will be at Stan and JoAnn Ruffins home in Leesburg Ga.
