Sherry Settles Middleton

Sherry Settles Middleton, 71, of Blakely, GA, died January 7, 2023 at her residence.  A private family committal service will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at Pine Lawn Cemetery with memorial services to be held at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Blakely.  Rev. Lyle Brackin will officiate.  A visitation will follow the memorial service in the sanctuary.

Sherry was born in Miller County, GA on March 2, 1951 to W.J. “Jack” and Mildred Settles.  She graduated from Early County High School in 1969 and attended The Valdosta College where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Sherry received her Master’s Degree from The Georgia Southwestern University.  She taught in the Early County School System for thirty-two years, as a First Grade Teacher and Literacy Coach.

Sherry married Wayne Middleton in 1971 and had lived in Blakely for forty-four years.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in The Benevolence Committee, The Wednesday Night Food, The Ladies’ Fellowship Class.  Sherry enjoyed reading, volunteering, spending time at the beach and doting on her three beautiful grandsons.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kelly Dane Settles.

 Survivors include her husband, Wayne E. Middleton of Blakely, GA, her children, Christy Middleton Still, (Nick) of Salt Lake City, UT and Justin Wayne Middleton of Augusta, GA, her sister, Kim Settles of Athens, GA and her grandchildren, Dane Still, Reid Still and Asher Middleton.
