Sharon Evon Maddox Gay

Sharon Evon Maddox Gay, 61, of Leesburg, GA died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Monday, February 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Gray will officiate.

Born in Fort Stewart, GA, Mrs. Gay had resided in Lee Co., GA since 1994 moving from Albany, GA. Sharon was an amazing Mother and Grandmother, a wonderful Daughter and Sister and great Friend. Her personality allowed her to turn a stranger into a lifelong friend in no time. One of her favorite sayings, no matter the situation was “we’re making memories.” Which she did with anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.             

She was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Reliford Maddox and her brothers, Herbert (Bo) Dwayne Maddox and Dale Reliford Maddox.

Survivors include two sons, Royce Gillam (Gill) Ethridge (Shelly), Ft. Benning, GA, Jason Scott Ethridge (Adrianne), Leesburg, Ga, her mother, Evon Johnson Rooney, Jacksonville, FL, two sisters, Debbie Rooney (Dan), Fredericksburg, VA, Susan Leonard, Macon, GA, four grandchildren, Natalie Ethridge, Alexander Ethridge, Blayne Ethridge and Keircyn Ethridge and numerous extended family members.
