Sarah Frankye Lemay, 80, of Albany, Georgia passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
She was born on July 14, 1944, in Albany, Georgia to the late James C. and Sarah Fleming Barbre. Frankye worked at Sunnyland Farms for 40 years and was the Vice President of Operations when she retired. She was an active member of Morningside United Methodist Church for many, many years, faithfully serving in the choir and the children’s ministry. Frankye enjoyed reading and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and her beloved dog Toby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill Barbre, Ben Barbre, Sam Barbre, Bob Barbre, Jim Barbre, sisters Joanne Barbre Hutchinson, and Margaret Barbre Jolly.
Survivors include her children, Scott Wegener (Neu), Hallandale Beach, FL, Jackye Mitchum (Steve), Albany, GA, James Wegener, St. Petersburg, FL. and her siblings, Judy Willson, Cartersville, GA, Ginny Collins, Greenville, SC, and Richard Barbre, Sylvester, GA, sister-in-law Teresa Barbre and many nieces and nephews.
She was known as Mimi to her grandchildren Taylor Wegener, Caroline Reed (David), Tanner Mitchum (Tonie), Nicholas Mitchum, Taylor Nichols, Miriah Wegener, bonus grandchildren BarbaraAnn Collins (William) and Maverick Collins, who love her so much and will miss her the most.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
