Sara A. Lawrence

Sara A. Lawrence, 87, of Albany, GA, died November 24, 2012 at Willson Hospice House. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Crossroad Cemetery in Early County, GA. Rev. Stanley Phillips will officiate.

A native of Arlington, GA, Mrs. Lawrence has resided in Albany since 1961 moving from Macon, GA. She was a star basketball player and a 1942 graduate of Elmodel High School and graduated from Georgia State College for Women in 1945. Mrs. Lawrence was employed with C&S Bank in Atlanta and Macon, GA. She attended Raleigh White Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Joe Willie Lawrence, Sr.

Survivors include two sons, Joe W. Lawrence, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Americus, GA and Hal A. Lawrence and his wife, Terri of Damascus, GA, her grandchildren, Joe W. (Jay) Lawrence, III of Albany, GA, Jennifer (Jenna) Lawrence of Cartersville, GA, Nicholas (Nick) Lawrence and Wesley Joseph (Joe) Lawrence both of Damascus, GA

Family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
