Sandy Shores Jones

Sandy Shores Jones, 71, of Albany, died Friday, September 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. 

Sandra (Sandy) Faye Jones was born in Cairo, GA to Lindsey and Maelene Shores. She had three sisters and two brothers who loved her dearly. She lived in Jacksonville, FL where she met the love of her life, George Jones. 

George & Sandy married in 1971 in Monroe, LA and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Together they grew a beautiful family in Albany, GA. Together they had three children (Cindy (Lee) Weaver, Tonya Milner, and Blaine (Lizzie) Jones), nine grandkids (Justin Milner, Lindsay Breasette, Jessica Milner, Kelsey (Matt) Banks, Josh (Abby) Breasette, Cody Jones, Madison Breasette, Allie Jones, and Haise Jones), seven great grandchildren (Camdyn Newsome, Holden Banks, Dallas Milner, Paisley Banks, Peyton Roberts, JT Breasette, and Asher Breasette), as well as one grand dog (Zoey). 

Together in 1986 George & Sandy opened their printshop (J&H Printing) where they worked side by side every day. Through their printshop they grew a long list of clients, many of whom turned into close friends. 

The last year and a half of her life she spent fighting a terrible disease, but no matter how tough it got she never gave up. Her family rallied around her, and her husband, children, and grandchildren cared for her as she fought. 

She talked a lot about her faith in her last month on this earth, and we all rest easy knowing she is pain free in the arms of our mighty Savior. 

Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Pine Bluff Baptist Church with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Keith Smith and Rev. Mark Bullock will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lindsey Leroy Shores, siblings, Darlene Baker and Stan Shores.

Survivors include her husband, George Alton (Joe) Jones, Albany, GA, son, Blaine Jones (Lizzie), Sylvester, GA, daughters, Cindy Weaver (Lee), Tonya Milner all of Albany, GA, mother, Maelene Ansley Shores, Albany, GA, siblings, Gary Shores (Diane) Terrell Co, GA, Kathy Learn (Lyle), Albany, GA and Stacy Golden (Travis), Leesburg, GA, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Monday, September 18, 2023 at Mathews Funeral Home.
