Samuel Austin Law, III of Albany died December 23, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor William "Butch" Knight will officiate and Flynn Bridges will assist. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus, GA.
Sam was born on July 15, 1942 to the late Samuel Austin Law, Jr. and Myra Elizabeth Price in Americus, Ga. Sam graduated from Albany High School in 1961 and he attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Ga. He was a member of the Army National Guard. He worked for W. T. Grants, until their closing. He was self-employed for most of his life. He was the owner of Sam's Grocery on North Davis Street and SS&W Grocery on Whitney Avenue. Sam went on to own his father's grocery store, Sam's Grocery on South Davis. He later owned and operated Cinnamon Sam's on Westover Boulevard. After closing Cinnamon Sam's, he managed the Elks Club BPOE dining and catering. In the past few years he worked for the American Legion on Gillionville Road. Over the last several years he catered many social events such as, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Artesian Sertoma Club, and National Association of Women in Construction. Also, for many years he served breakfast for the Student Ministries, Inc. to the high school basketball tournament event held in December.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Wynn Law, a daughter, Wendy Law Newell and her husband, Rick all of Albany, Ga., two sons, Sean Law and his wife, De'laine of Columbia, SC, Shane Law and his wife, Julie of Leesburg, GA, a sister, Sandra Law and her husband, Larry Winchester of Lawrenceville, GA, six grandchildren, Kyle Law of Savannah, Ga., Ashley Law Glover (Easton), Jordan Law all of Leesburg, Ga., Lucas Law of Columbia, SC., Mason Newell, and Hayden Law Newell both of Albany, Ga., one great grandchild, Haysen Law of Leesburg, Ga., a brother-in-law Lamar Wynn and his wife, Lottie of Cordele, Ga., and a sister-in-law Shirley Wynn of Ashburn, Ga..
