Ruwis Harvey Sapp

Ruwis Harvey Sapp, 74, of Warwick, GA passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, GA. Pastor Kenney Miller will officiate.

Ruwis was born on October 6, 1949 in Millen, GA. He attended Jenkins County High School in Millen, GA and graduated in 1967. He married his high school sweetheart Kay Kirkland Sapp, and together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Ruwis was the sixth of eight children. He was raised on a dairy farm where he began working at a very early age to help support his family. There he learned the value of working hard, doing your best, and being thankful for your blessings. His humble beginnings fueled his work ethic and desire to succeed.

“Sapp” as he was affectionately known by most of his friends was a car salesman for most of his adult life. He was a self-made man who worked tirelessly to take care of his family. He established a successful business from the ground up and worked hard his entire life.

Ruwis loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. He loved to cook, especially on the grill, and welcomed everyone to his table. He took pleasure in sitting out on the porch at his cabin watching the birds. He also enjoyed going on sunset boat rides with his wife and fishing off the dock. In his younger years, he enjoyed working in his garden. Ruwis adored his family, especially his grandchildren, and loved spending time with them at the farm, especially at a dove shoot or family gatherings. He was known for his “famous” ribs and elaborate fireworks displays at his annual 4th of July party. Ruwis also loved watching sports and playing cards with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Sapp and Rosa Mae Williams Sapp; brothers Roy Sapp and Raymond Sapp; father-in-law, George Kirkland and beloved mother-in-law Tina Kirkland; brothers-in-law Larry Kirkland and Eddie Smith.

Ruwis is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Kay Kirkland Sapp; daughter Haley Sapp Crosson (Bert) of Tifton; son Ruwis Scott Sapp (Laine) of Leesburg; grandsons Logan Kirkland Crosson, Cooper Scott Sapp, Landon Gray “Cubbie” Crosson; granddaughter Cali Bren Sapp; and Katelynn Lee Albritton, Ealum Landon Albritton, Taylor Leeann Albritton, Scottie Albritton; sister-in-law Suzanne Kirkland Brown (Ray); brothers Richard Sapp (Frankie), Robert Sapp (Donna), Russell Sapp (Carolyn), Randy Sapp (Lou Ann); sister Runnette Sapp Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
