Ruth A. Stack

Ruth Avaleen Key Stack, 94, of Albany, GA died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Debbie Cone will officiate. Interment will follow at Andersonville National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.

Born in Pilot Mountain, NC, Mrs. Stack had resided in Albany, GA since 1963. She was a retired registered nurse and she had worked in the Army Signal Corps and in the private field. She was a member of the Sowega Council on Aging, the 49er's, she enjoyed line dancing and was a member of the Ladies Bible Class, the United Methodist Women and Avalon United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gabriel Key and Ida Mae Boyles Key, husband, Louis Jay Stack, four brothers, Rev. Paul Key, Sam Key, John Key and Frank Key and four sisters, Myrtle Peele, Verla Peele, Eva Armstrong and Sadie Harris.

Survivors include a son, Ronald J. Stack (Daphne), St. Simons Island, GA and three daughters, Donna Horton (Snookie), Boiling Springs, SC, Carolyn Noel (Gordon), Canton, GA, Manya Miranda (Bill), El Paso, TX, her sister, Betty Linthicum of Flint Hill, NC, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
