Ruth Margaret Smith

Ruth Margaret Smith, 76, of Leesburg, GA died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A private committal service will be held at a later date.

A native of Chicago, IL, Mrs. Smith had resided in the Albany area for approximately 20 years coming from Apopka, FL. She was a spirit-filled Christian and a member of the Million Dollar Club at 21st Century Realtors. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Gerald D. Smith, Sr. and a grandson, Jeremy "Todd" Smith.

Survivors include her five children, Patricia S. Violett of Lakeland, FL, Gerald D. "Jerry" Smith, Jr. (Barbara) of Leesburg, GA, Caryl Smith Huiras (Richard) of Leesburg, GA, Judith Smith of Clearwater Beach, FL, and Daphne Smith Hunt (Rodney) of New Orleans, LA, a sister, Miriam Strong of Sebring, FL, seven grandchildren to include Robert Lipford, Christian Violett, Christy Wingate Carter (Patrick), Richard B. Huiras, Jr., Nicole Huiras Bush (Alan), Victoria Smith, and Gregory Peck, and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
