Ruth Horne Karau

Ruth Horne Karau, 85, of Lee County, died Tuesday August 29, 2017 at her residence.

Her service will be Friday 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home with interment in Floral Memory Gardens.  Rev. Calvin Smith will officiate.

Born in Leslie, GA, Mrs. Karau was a woman of Christian values and Pentecostal faith.  She retired from McGregor Golf after 30 years.  Along with her husband of 65 years she traveled to all 50 states and 22 countries and is a 20 year breast cancer survivor.   

Mrs. Karau was preceded in death by her daughter, Zona Karau, brother, Bobby Horne and sisters, Laverne Blakly and Arlene George.

Survivors include her husband Larry Karau, Lee County, daughters, Judy Smith (Calvin), Newnan, Dawn Stone (Rick), Flowery Branch, Erla Nerthling (Robert), Hoschton, grandchildren Brian Smith, Jason Smith (Katy), Alan Stone (Morgan), Andrew Stone (JoAnn), Catherine McCarty-Allon (Dr. Steven Allon), Claire McCarty, great grandson Caleb Stone, brother Frank Horne, and sister Carolyn Kingsland.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
